Gurgaon: Three individuals, including a woman, have been arrested for allegedly robbing a passenger in an auto-rickshaw in Bhondsi. The arrests were carried out by the Crime Branch of Sohna after the victim lodged a complaint at Bhondsi police station on April 23.
Incident Details
The incident occurred on the night of April 10-11. According to the complaint, the victim was waiting outside the IFSC building in Sector 66 when a CNG auto-rickshaw stopped in front of him. A woman and a man were already seated beside the driver. The victim asked the driver to take him to Malibu Town, and the driver agreed.
However, instead of heading to the destination, the driver took the vehicle to a deserted stretch behind the BSF camp in Bhondsi. There, the woman and the two men allegedly assaulted the victim and, at knifepoint, robbed him of his jewellery, cash, and wallet.
Arrests and Recovery
Police identified the accused as Irfan (26), Sohail (21), and Ruksana, all residents of Nat Colony in Sohna. Irfan and Sohail were arrested on April 24 near the Sohna tourism complex, while Ruksana was apprehended on April 28. Police recovered the auto used in the crime, a knife, two gold rings, a mobile phone, and a wristwatch from the accused.
Motive and Custody
During questioning, investigators found that the trio had targeted the victim because they noticed he was inebriated. Irfan and Sohail were sent to judicial custody after three days of police remand, while Ruksana is in one-day police custody.
The case highlights the risks of traveling alone at night and the importance of verifying auto-rickshaw drivers and co-passengers.
