Raipur: In a fresh incident highlighting women safety concerns in Chhattisgarh, three men were arrested on Sunday for allegedly gang-raping a 19-year-old woman in Balrampur district.
Incident Details
According to police, the incident took place in the Wadrafnagar area when the woman was traveling on foot with her cousin to visit a relative. In her complaint, the survivor alleged that they were intercepted by two men on a motorcycle near a forested stretch along the route.
She told police that the accused waylaid both of them into the nearby woods and restrained her cousin by tying his hands and feet. Thereafter, they took turns to assault her sexually, and called a third person over to the spot, who also raped her, she alleged.
Police Action
Police said the cousin subsequently managed to free himself and report the incident to the police. Acting on the complaint, a police team launched a search operation and detained the accused trio from the area. A case was registered under BNS sections, the police said, confirming all three accused were nabbed. Medical examinations of the survivor and the accused were conducted as per routine investigation protocol in such cases.
