In a significant crackdown on illegal arms trafficking, Brajrajnagar police in Jharsuguda district arrested three individuals on Tuesday for allegedly procuring and distributing illegal firearms brought from Bihar. The accused were identified as Santosh Khedkar (36), a resident of Telenpali; Bishal Bag (30), from OPM Colony; and Banty Prasad (34), of Lamtibahal, all in Brajrajnagar.
Seizure of Weapons and Vehicle
During the operation, police recovered five country-made 7.65 mm pistols, along with 20 rounds of live ammunition. Additionally, a motorcycle used in the illegal transportation of the arms was also seized from their possession.
Investigation and Legal Action
The police have initiated a detailed investigation to trace the source of the firearms and identify any other individuals involved in the network. The accused were produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody. Further interrogation is underway to uncover the extent of their operations and potential links to other criminal activities.
