Nagpur: Three men, having past criminal records, were arrested for breaking into their neighbour's house in Yashodhara Nagar and decamping with Rs 4 lakh cash and gold ornaments. The accused purchased a car with the stolen money and planned to use it for committing further thefts, cops said.
In her complaint, Anjum Qureshi stated that she left for Hyderabad with her family on May 12 for her nephew's marriage. When she returned, Qureshi found the window of her house was broken. She later found that Rs 4 lakh cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 4.6 lakh had been stolen.
After scanning the CCTV footage, Yashodhara Nagar police identified and arrested the three accused — Mohammad Noor (19), Salman Khan Iqbal Khan (30) and Mohammad Faizal Ansari (21) — all residents of the same area. "We nabbed the mastermind Noor and two others based on technical, electronic and manual intelligence," said senior inspector Yunush Chand Shaikh of the Yashodhara Nagar police station.
During interrogation, the trio confessed to housebreaking and theft. The accused said they broke the rear window to enter the house. Police recovered Rs 1.7 lakh in cash, 60 grams of gold ornaments valued at Rs 5.88 lakh, and a car purchased with the stolen money from the accused.
