Three Family Members Held for Fatal Attack in Kaushambi

In a shocking incident of familial violence, the Kaushambi police on Monday arrested three youths for the brutal murder of their brother-in-law. The crime, which has sent ripples through the Bara Gari area, was allegedly committed as a drastic response to the victim's persistent harassment of their sister.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Guddu, his brother Vijay alias Golu, and their cousin Mahesh. All are residents of the Bara Gari area in Kaushambi district, Uttar Pradesh.

Body Dumped Near Dry Canal

The grim discovery was made on Sunday when the body of the victim, Surendra, was found stuffed inside a sack. It was dumped near a dry canal located between Kaneli Block and Bara, falling under the jurisdiction of the Sarai Akil police station.

Acting on clues and local intelligence, police teams swiftly moved to apprehend the trio. During the arrest, the authorities seized two sticks believed to be the murder weapons and the mobile phone of the deceased from the possession of the accused.

Harassment and Character Assassination Led to Crime

Explaining the motive behind the extreme step, SP (Kaushambi) Rajesh Kumar stated that the three accused killed Surendra because he was constantly harassing their sister. The victim's behavior had created immense distress within the family.

During interrogation, Guddu confessed that his brother-in-law not only doubted his sister's character but had also taken the reprehensible step of sending vulgar photographs of her to some relatives. This act of character assassination and the ongoing mental torture reportedly pushed the brothers to their limit.

The police investigation revealed that family members had made several attempts to pacify Surendra and resolve the matter amicably. However, the slain man remained reluctant to change his behavior or heed their pleas, leading to a tragic escalation.

The case highlights the devastating consequences of unresolved family disputes and harassment. The Kaushambi police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations into the matter. The three accused are currently in police custody and will be presented before a court.
