Nawada Police Crack Down on Heinous Crime with Arrest of Three Accused
In a significant breakthrough, Nawada Police announced on Thursday the arrest of three individuals, including a minor boy, in connection with the brutal gang rape and murder of a 47-year-old woman. The victim's naked body was discovered in a field on February 16, sending shockwaves through the community.
Details of the Gruesome Attack Emerge
According to police reports, the woman was attacked while working in her field by the accused—identified as Dilip Yadav, Ramswaroop Rajvansi, and a minor. The assailants allegedly raped her, struck her on the head with a farming tool, and then strangled her with a saree. This vicious assault culminated in her tragic death, with her body left in the field.
The family of the deceased lodged a formal complaint at the local police station late on February 16, immediately after the body was found. This prompted swift action from law enforcement authorities.
Swift Police Response and Investigation
Nawada Superintendent of Police Abhinav Dhiman took charge of the case by forming a special investigation team (SIT) to expedite the probe. The SIT successfully arrested two of the accused, while a named FIR was registered against five persons in total. The minor involved also underwent a medical examination on Thursday as part of the investigative process.
SP Dhiman revealed that crucial evidence was recovered from the crime scene, including a spade with bloodstains found approximately 20 meters away. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team collected blood samples and other vital evidence, which played a key role in the investigation.
Confession and Motive Behind the Crime
During interrogation, Dilip Yadav confessed to raping the woman, and his fingerprints matched those found on the bloodstained spade. Additional items recovered from the area included the farming tool used in the murder, the saree used for strangulation, slippers, and the victim's mangalsutra.
SP Dhiman further disclosed that Dilip admitted the murder was motivated by an old land dispute, shedding light on the premeditated nature of this horrific crime. This confession has provided critical insights into the circumstances leading to the attack.
Family's Heartbreaking Account
The elder son of the deceased shared a poignant account of the events. He stated that on the evening of February 16, his mother was working in the field with her three children. As darkness fell, she sent the children home, assuring them she would return within an hour. Tragically, she never made it back, leaving the family devastated by her untimely and violent death.
The arrests mark a crucial step in delivering justice for the victim and her grieving family, as Nawada Police continue their investigation to ensure all perpetrators are held accountable.
