In a shocking incident, the decomposed bodies of three individuals, including a toddler, were discovered inside a rented house in Tirupati early Tuesday morning. The grim find has sent shockwaves through the local community in Daminedu's Indiramma Colony.
Gruesome Discovery in Indiramma Colony
Local residents alerted the Tiruchanoor police after a foul smell began emanating from the house. The police, led by Circle Inspector Sunil Kumar, forced their way into the residence. Inside, they made a horrific discovery: the body of a man, identified as Satya Raj (40), was found hanging from the ceiling. Nearby, near the bathroom, lay the bodies of a woman, Pongotai Nayagi (31), and her three-year-old son, Manish.
The police stated that the bodies were in an advanced stage of decomposition, indicating that the deaths likely occurred four to five days prior to the discovery. Neighbors reported not having seen the family since November 22, which aligns with the preliminary forensic assessment.
Background of the Deceased and Initial Findings
Investigations revealed that Satya Raj, originally from Gudiyattam in Tamil Nadu, had left his wife and was in a live-in relationship with Pongotai Nayagi. The couple, along with Pongotai's young son, had moved to Tirupati approximately three months ago. They were working as daily wage labourers and living in the rented house where the tragedy unfolded.
At the scene, police recovered a bottle of suspected poison near the bodies. A senior police officer stated that the initial assessment points towards a possible suicide pact. However, authorities are meticulously probing all angles to rule out any foul play or coercion.
The officer further clarified that no external injuries were found on the bodies of the woman and the child. Samples from the bodies have been sent for detailed forensic and toxicology analysis to determine the exact cause of death.
Ongoing Investigation and Next Steps
The Tiruchanoor police have registered a case and the investigation is actively underway. A key part of the probe involves understanding the circumstances that led to this extreme step. Police have contacted their counterparts in Gudiyattam, Tamil Nadu, to trace the families of the deceased and gather more background information about their lives and possible motives.
While the suicide pact theory is primary, investigators are also examining whether the deaths were entirely voluntary or if any element of force was involved. The community in Indiramma Colony remains in a state of shock and mourning over the tragic loss of three lives, including that of an innocent child.
