Police in Gujarat's Upleta region have taken legal action against three individuals for dangerously misusing licensed firearms to create social media content. The accused allegedly used the weapons to shoot recreational videos between 2019 and 2020, displaying careless handling that raised serious safety concerns.
The Accused and Their Reckless Behavior
The individuals facing charges have been identified as Vishal Chudasama, Uday Der, and Dinesh Der. According to police investigations, the controversial videos were recorded in both Upleta and Rajkot, showing the men handling the weapons irresponsibly before uploading the clips to various social media platforms.
How the Case Came to Light
The matter surfaced during interrogation of Vishal Chudasama, who is currently on police remand at Bhayavadar police station in connection with a money-laundering case. During questioning, Vishal revealed that he and his friend Uday had recorded the social media reels using licensed weapons that belonged to Uday's father, Dinesh Der.
Police confirmed that Dinesh Der holds valid licenses for both a revolver and a double-barrel shotgun - the same weapons seen being used carelessly in the viral clips. The investigation revealed that the firearm misuse occurred during 2019 and 2020, though the case has only recently been formally registered.
Legal Consequences and Public Safety Concerns
Law enforcement officials emphasized that the irresponsible behavior captured in the videos posed a significant threat to public safety. The Upleta police have booked the three accused under Indian Penal Code Sections 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others) and 114 (abetment), along with relevant sections of the Arms Act.
