Tragic Sea Drowning Claims Lives of Three Boys in Tuticorin District
In a heartbreaking incident, three young boys lost their lives after drowning in the sea on Monday evening in Tuticorin district. The victims have been identified as Thirumani, 14, Mukendran, 12, and Naren Karthik, 13, all residents of Geethajeevan Nagar near Thalamuthu Nagar in Tuticorin.
Details of the Fatal Incident
According to police sources, a group of nine boys went to take a bath at the Mottai Gopuram beach area around 4 PM. When they reportedly ventured deeper into the sea, they began to struggle and drown. Nearby fishermen, witnessing the boys in distress, immediately rushed to their aid and managed to bring eight boys back to the shore.
Unfortunately, Thirumani and Karthik succumbed to suffocation on the spot, while Mukendran was pulled away by the strong currents into the sea. The Tharuvaikulam marine police were alerted and promptly arrived at the scene to initiate a search operation for Mukendran.
Search and Recovery Efforts
After nearly an hour of intensive searching, Mukendran's body washed ashore approximately 100 meters away from the incident spot. The police recovered all three bodies and sent them to the Tuticorin Government Hospital for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The Tharuvaikulam marine police have registered a case in connection with this tragic event, highlighting the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
