Four killed in Jaipur truck mishap
In a tragic incident in Jaipur's Jagatpura area, a trailer truck ran over four people, including three children, while they were sleeping on a footpath near a temple. The accident occurred late Tuesday night. All four died on the spot. The driver fled the scene after the mishap, leaving the vehicle behind.
Victims were homeless
According to police, the victims were homeless individuals who had been sleeping on the footpath. The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Ramswaroop, 8-year-old Rinki, 6-year-old Raju, and 4-year-old Monu. The children were reportedly siblings.
Police investigation underway
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Dr. Tejaswani Gautam said that the truck driver has been identified and a search is on to nab him. The vehicle has been seized. A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act has been registered. The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
Anger among locals
The incident has sparked anger among local residents, who staged a protest demanding strict action against the driver and better safety measures for pedestrians. They also demanded compensation for the families of the victims.
