Three Young Men Killed in Devastating Motorcycle-Truck Collision on Sambalpur Highway
A horrific road accident claimed the lives of three young men in Sambalpur district on Sunday morning. The tragedy occurred when a motorcycle carrying three riders collided head-on with a container truck near Pithamaren at Kureibahal, under the jurisdiction of Jamankira police station.
Details of the Fatal Crash
According to Ranjan Nag, an official from the Jamankira police station, the collision took place around 11 am on National Highway 53. The motorcycle, which was traveling with all three victims, rammed directly into the container truck that was heading towards Jamankira from Sambalpur. The force of the impact was so severe that all three riders died instantly at the scene.
The victims have been identified as:
- Ranabrit Singh, aged 20
- Bulu Rana, aged 25
- Sujit Langa, aged 24
Fire Erupts After Collision
Following the violent crash, the motorcycle became trapped under the wheels of the container truck and immediately caught fire. The flames quickly spread to the container itself, creating a dangerous situation on the busy highway.
The container truck suffered partial burning damage, while the motorcycle was completely gutted in the fire, according to police reports. The front portion of the container sustained major damage from the intense blaze.
Emergency Response and Aftermath
Alert local residents immediately notified both police and fire services about the accident. Firefighters rushed to the spot and worked diligently to bring the fire under control, preventing further damage and potential injuries to bystanders.
In a concerning development, the truck driver and helper reportedly fled the scene soon after the collision occurred. Police are investigating their whereabouts and the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
The bodies of the three victims were transported to a hospital in Kuchinda for autopsy procedures. After completion of the necessary formalities, the remains were handed over to their grieving families for final rites.
