All were residents of Kalyanpura village in Lakhtar taluka of Surendranagar district. The family was traveling towards Viramgam when the accident occurred between Kameejla and Vanthal villages.

Emergency services were alerted, and the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital in 108 ambulances. The driver of the pickup vehicle fled the scene immediately after the accident, abandoning the victims.
Police registered a case against the unidentified driver and launched a manhunt. Officials from Viramgam police said efforts are underway to trace the accused using CCTV footage and other technical evidence. "The vehicle involved is suspected to be a Bolero pickup.
