Tragic Hit-and-Run Claims Lives of Three Hardoi Farmers on Ganga Expressway Service Road
In a devastating incident, three men from Hardoi district lost their lives after the motorcycle they were riding was struck by a vehicle on the service road of the under-construction Ganga Expressway. The accident occurred in the Behatamujavar police station area on Tuesday night, leaving the local community in shock.
Details of the Fatal Collision
Police investigations at the accident site revealed a broken bumper from an SUV, strongly suggesting its involvement in the collision. Authorities are treating this as a hit-and-run case, as the vehicle fled the scene immediately after the impact. It was noted that the bike riders were not wearing helmets at the time of the accident, which likely exacerbated their injuries.
Victims Identified as Local Farmers
The deceased have been identified as Raju Rathore (55), a resident of Atiya village under Kasimpur police station; Rambalak Yadav (50) of Siddiqpur village; and Pawan Yadav (48) from Garhi in Hardoi district. All three were farmers, as confirmed by Akhilesh, the son of Rambalak Yadav. Their untimely deaths have left their families and the agricultural community in mourning.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Tragedy
The tragic chain of events began when Raju Rathore's uncle, Ramjeevan, passed away due to illness on Tuesday afternoon. Raju, along with Rambalak Yadav and Pawan, traveled to attend his last rites at Nanamau ghat under Bangarmau Kotwali. After paying their respects, the trio was returning home when their bike was hit by a vehicle near Ranipur village.
Around 10:30 PM, villagers discovered the injured men and immediately alerted the police. Officers from the Behatamujavar police station rushed to the scene and transported all three victims to Bangarmau Community Health Centre (CHC). Unfortunately, the doctor on duty declared them dead upon arrival.
Police Response and Ongoing Investigation
Bangarmau Kotwali in-charge Akhilesh Pandey provided updates on the case, stating that the families of all three victims have arrived to claim the bodies. The bodies were subsequently sent for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather further evidence. Police are actively searching for the SUV involved, using the recovered bumper as a key clue in their investigation.
This incident highlights critical safety concerns on the service roads of major infrastructure projects like the Ganga Expressway, which is still under construction. Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations, especially in areas where construction is ongoing.
