Faridabad: Three Arrested for Alleged Rape of Female Shooter at Hotel
Three Held for Alleged Rape of Shooter in Faridabad Hotel

Police in Faridabad have made three arrests following a disturbing complaint of sexual assault filed by a 23-year-old national-level shooter. The incident, which allegedly took place at a local hotel, led to the swift detention of the accused from the premises.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Crime

According to officials from the Sarai Khawaja police station, the victim had travelled to Faridabad on Tuesday with a female friend to participate in a shooting competition. The events took a turn on Wednesday evening after the tournament concluded.

The shooter's friend contacted an acquaintance named Gaurav, a Faridabad resident, requesting a ride to the metro station. Gaurav arrived at the location with his friend, Satendra. Subsequently, the group of four decided to extend their stay in the city overnight.

They booked two rooms at a hotel and later gathered in one of them for a party, as per the police account.

The Alleged Assault and Immediate Police Action

The complainant stated that around 9 pm, her friend left the room with Gaurav to fetch some items. She alleged that Satendra, who remained behind, sexually assaulted her during this time.

Displaying immense presence of mind, the victim informed another acquaintance about the incident as soon as her friend returned. She then managed to lock the accused inside the hotel room and immediately approached the police.

A police team promptly reached the hotel and arrested all three suspects—Satendra, Gaurav, and the victim's female friend—from the scene. Station House Officer Rakesh Kumar confirmed that the accused were produced before a city court, which ordered them to be sent to judicial custody.

Legal Proceedings and Privacy Protection

A formal case was registered at the Sarai Khawaja police station based on the detailed complaint filed by the shooter. The police investigation is now ongoing.

In adherence to the directives of the Supreme Court of India concerning cases of sexual assault, the identity of the victim has been strictly withheld to protect her privacy and dignity.

This case has highlighted concerns regarding the safety of athletes and women in urban spaces, prompting calls for heightened vigilance and swift justice.
