In a recent operation, the Shimla police apprehended three individuals in possession of 15 grams of chitta, a form of heroin, in the Shoghi area, approximately 13 kilometers from the capital city of Himachal Pradesh. The arrests were made on Monday, and the accused have been identified as Lovesh Goyal (23), a resident of Bilaspur currently living as a tenant in Shimla, along with Abhinav Sharma (21) and Shivam Saraswal (23), both residents of Shimla.

Police Operation Details

Shimla Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Singh provided details of the operation. A Special Cell team of the district police was conducting patrol duty near Shoghi when they stopped and searched a vehicle in which the accused were traveling. During the search, the contraband was recovered from their possession, leading to the immediate arrest of all three individuals.

Legal Proceedings

The SSP confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused under Sections 21 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. These sections pertain to the possession and sale of narcotic drugs. The police have also seized the vehicle used by the accused, and further investigation is currently underway to determine the source and distribution network of the seized drugs.
