Three individuals sustained injuries in a firing incident that erupted over a land dispute in Tarn Taran district, Punjab. The incident occurred late Tuesday evening in the village of Naushehra Pannuan, under the jurisdiction of the Chohla Sahib police station.
Details of the Incident
According to police reports, the altercation began when two groups clashed over a piece of agricultural land. The argument quickly escalated, leading to gunfire. Three men, identified as Gurpreet Singh, Sukhdev Singh, and Amandeep Singh, were hit by bullets and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their conditions are reported to be stable.
Police Action
Upon receiving information, a police team led by Station House Officer (SHO) Gurpreet Singh reached the spot and launched an investigation. One suspect, identified as Jaswant Singh, was arrested on the spot. Authorities are searching for other accused individuals who managed to flee the scene.
Senior police officials have stated that preliminary investigations suggest the firing was a result of a long-standing property dispute between the families. The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempted murder and arms act violations.
Background of the Dispute
Local residents informed police that the two families had been at odds over a 10-acre plot of land for several years. Earlier attempts at mediation by village elders had failed to resolve the issue. The situation turned violent when one party allegedly arrived at the field with weapons and opened fire.

Police have registered a case and are analyzing evidence, including empty cartridges found at the scene. They are also reviewing CCTV footage from nearby installations to trace the movements of the suspects. Further arrests are expected in the coming days.
