Three Killed, Two Critical in Pune Road Accident After Truck Collision

A devastating head-on collision between a car and a truck in Nagargaon, Pune, has resulted in three fatalities and left two others with serious injuries. The tragic incident occurred around 1 am on Saturday on the Shirur-Kedgaon Chouphula Road, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Details of the Fatal Collision

According to the Shirur police, the car was traveling towards Ahilyanagar, while the truck was headed in the opposite direction towards Kedgaon Chouphula. Preliminary investigations suggest that the truck may have veered onto the wrong side of the road, which lacks a median divider, leading to the catastrophic crash. The police have detained the truck driver on charges of rash and negligent driving, and a formal case has been registered against him.

Victims Identified and Family Background

The deceased have been identified as Pavan Rajhans Kale (34), a farmer from Gunwadi in Ahilyanagar district; his nine-year-old daughter Aradhya, who was a school student in Gunwadi; and his brother-in-law Balasaheb Prakash Nagwade (38) from Shirur, who worked with a private company. Two other members of the Kale family sustained severe injuries in the accident and have been admitted to a hospital in Shirur, where they are reported to be in critical condition.

Circumstances Leading to the Tragedy

The Kale family had traveled to Kolhapur to visit their son, who is pursuing his school education there. After the visit, they were returning home in their car when the collision occurred. This routine journey turned fatal due to the alleged negligence on the road, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety in the region.

The Shirur police are continuing their investigation into the exact causes of the accident, emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules and improved road infrastructure to prevent such incidents in the future.
