Coal India Limited (CIL), a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Coal, has announced a recruitment drive for 660 Management Trainee (MT) positions in E-1 grade. The online application window will open on May 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM and close on June 11, 2026, at 6:00 PM.

- Electrical: 221 posts
- Civil: 178 posts
- Mechanical: 145 posts
- System: 43 posts
- Electronics & Communication: 38 posts
- Geology: 15 posts
- Industrial Engineering: 11 posts
- Rajbhasha (Hindi): 5 posts
- Company Secretary: 4 posts
Selection Process
Selection will be based solely on the Computer Based Online Test (CBT). No interview will be conducted. The CBT will be three hours long and consist of two papers, each of 100 marks. Paper-I covers General Knowledge, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, and English. Paper-II assesses discipline-specific professional knowledge. Notably, there is no negative marking.
Salary and Benefits
Selected Management Trainees will receive a pay scale of Rs 60,000 to Rs 1,80,000 during training, with an initial basic pay of Rs 60,000 per month. Upon successful completion of one year of training-cum-probation, candidates will be confirmed as officers in E-1 grade.
Eligibility Criteria
The maximum age limit for General and EWS candidates is 30 years as of April 30, 2026. Age relaxation for reserved categories applies as per government norms. Candidates must possess the required degree with minimum qualifying marks from a recognized university. Most engineering disciplines require a BE/BTech degree with at least 60% marks. Reserved category candidates receive a 5% relaxation. Final-year students expecting results by August 31, 2026, are also eligible to apply.
Application Fee
General, OBC, and EWS candidates must pay an application fee of Rs 1,180 (including GST). SC, ST, PwBD candidates, and employees of Coal India and its subsidiaries are exempt from fee payment.
