Three LPG Agents Held for Illegal Cylinder Refilling in Delhi

New Delhi: Three LPG delivery agents, including a postgraduate, have been apprehended for allegedly illegally storing and refilling cylinders in outer Delhi’s Nangloi, police said on Wednesday.

A total of 96 LPG cylinders were seized during a raid at a vacant plot in the Bakkarwala area, where the accused had allegedly stockpiled domestic cylinders for black marketing and price gouging.

“The accused, identified as Vinod (37), Vijay (38) and Vansh Raj (26), all working as delivery agents with an LPG agency, would divert cylinders instead of completing deliveries and store them illegally,” said DCP (crime) Pankaj Kumar.

The three accused were arrested under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Essential Commodities Act. Police are investigating whether they were part of a larger syndicate involved in illegal LPG trade.

Vinod, a postgraduate, allegedly masterminded the operation. The cylinders were meant for domestic use but were being sold at higher prices in the black market. The raid was conducted based on a tip-off.

This incident highlights the ongoing issue of LPG diversion and black marketing in the region, which poses safety risks due to improper storage and handling of gas cylinders.
