The victim, identified as Zoeb Baig, survived the attack and is currently undergoing medical treatment.

The Terrifying Ordeal Unfolds

The violent encounter occurred between 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm on November 22 when Baig was waiting at the Aarey signal. According to police reports, the three accused approached the completely unknown motorcyclist and deliberately picked a fight with him. The situation quickly escalated when they snatched his motorcycle keys, and one of the assailants stabbed Baig in the stomach with a knife.

After the stabbing, the trio made off with Baig's motorcycle, leaving him injured on the roadside. Bystanders quickly came to his aid and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he is currently recuperating from his injuries.

Police Investigation Leads to Arrests

The Vanrai police station registered an FIR and launched an immediate investigation into the case. Police teams conducted thorough interviews with Baig, his friend, and several witnesses while simultaneously scanning available CCTV footage from the area.

The breakthrough came when police spotted two of the accused near Goregaon railway station. Upon noticing the police presence, the duo attempted to flee but were quickly apprehended after a brief chase. The arrested individuals were identified as Samir Dhobi (26) and Vinod Kumar Padiyachi (29).

Based on crucial information provided by the two initial arrests, police set up a strategic trap at Bhavani Nagar in the Aarey forest area and captured the key accused, Naeem Dhobi (26). During his arrest, authorities recovered both the stolen motorcycle and the knife used in the stabbing attack.

Legal Action and Charges

All three accused have been formally charged with attempted murder and robbery. The swift police action has brought some relief to the local community, though the incident has raised concerns about safety along the Western Express Highway stretch.
