In a significant disciplinary action, three police personnel attached to the Swaminathapuram police station near Palani in Dindigul district have been penalized for corruption and negligence of duty. The orders were issued on Monday by Dindigul District Superintendent of Police A. Pradeep, following complaints and a preliminary inquiry.
Details of Suspensions and Removal
Special Sub-Inspector Raju and Head Constable Sudharani have been placed under suspension. Raju faced allegations of accepting a bribe from an individual accused in a case of rash and negligent driving. Meanwhile, Sudharani was accused of receiving illegal gratification, according to a senior police official.
In a separate but related action, Grade I Police Constable Manikandan was removed from service. The decision came after multiple instances of negligence and being under the influence of alcohol while on duty. Despite being given prior opportunities to rectify his behavior, Manikandan's misconduct reportedly persisted, leading to his dismissal.
Action Based on Complaints
The senior official stated that the actions were taken based on complaints received against the personnel. A preliminary inquiry was conducted, which substantiated the allegations, resulting in the disciplinary measures. The swift response underscores the department's commitment to accountability and professionalism within the force.
This development highlights the ongoing efforts to maintain integrity and discipline in the police force, ensuring that public trust is upheld. Further investigations may follow to address any systemic issues that allowed such misconduct to occur.
