Tragic Road Accident Claims Lives of Three Teenage Boys in Darbhanga

A devastating road accident on the Biraul-Gandaul main road (State Highway-17) in Darbhanga district has resulted in the tragic deaths of three minor boys. The incident occurred on Wednesday when the motorcycle they were riding was struck by a speeding vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

Details of the Fatal Collision

According to preliminary reports, the motorcycle was allegedly being driven at high speed when it collided head-on with the approaching vehicle. The impact was severe, leaving all three teenagers with critical injuries. Police personnel who arrived at the scene promptly rushed the victims to a private hospital located at Supaul market.

Medical personnel at the hospital declared all three boys brought dead upon arrival. The deceased have been identified as Ankit Kumar (aged 17), Pankaj Kumar Sahani (aged 17), and Vivek Kumar (aged 16). All three were residents of Akhatwada village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Badgaon police station in Biraul sub-division.

Background of the Victims and the Motorcycle

The motorcycle involved in the accident belonged to Baijnath Sahani, a home guard jawan from the same village. Sahani revealed that he and other family members had advised the boys to return to their village after they had finished playing a cricket match. "Fate had other plans," Sahani stated somberly, reflecting on the tragic turn of events.

The father of Pankaj Kumar Sahani described the victims as bright young boys with a keen interest in playing cricket. Their untimely demise has left the entire village community in a state of profound grief and shock.

Police Investigation and Post-Mortem Procedures

Confirming the incident, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Biraul police station provided updates on Thursday. Police authorities reached the accident spot promptly after being alerted and immediately arranged for the transportation of the bodies to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for post-mortem examination.

In the early hours of Thursday, following completion of necessary formalities, the bodies were handed over to their respective family members for cremation. The police officer emphasized that all procedural requirements were followed diligently.

Challenges in Identifying the Responsible Vehicle

The SHO added that investigative efforts are currently underway to trace the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision. A significant challenge in the investigation is the absence of CCTV cameras installed near the accident site, which means no direct footage of the incident is available for review.

However, police authorities are actively working with local residents to gather information and ascertain the identity of both the vehicle and its driver. Community cooperation is being sought to piece together the events leading to this tragic accident.

This heartbreaking incident has once again highlighted critical concerns about road safety, speeding vehicles, and the vulnerability of young riders on highways. The families of the deceased are receiving support from local authorities as they cope with this immense loss.
