Tragic Railway Accident Claims Three Lives in Buxar District
A devastating incident unfolded on the outskirts of Buxar district on Sunday, resulting in the tragic deaths of three individuals employed at a power plant in Chausa. The fatal accident occurred when the trio was run over by an unidentified train on the Bara-Gahmar railway section, which falls under the Pt Deendayal Upadhyay-Danapur division of the Indian Railways.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The accident took place on the down line near pole number 678/28, where the train struck the victims, killing them instantly at the scene. According to official reports, the deceased were identified as Jaynath Sahni, aged 32, Gulshan Ram, aged 35, and Pappu Singh, also 35 years old. All three were working for a private company at the Chausa thermal power plant.
Investigations reveal that the workers had traveled to Gahmar in Uttar Pradesh for urgent work-related tasks. While returning, they chose to walk along the railway tracks, a decision that proved fatal. The exact timing and circumstances leading to the collision remain under scrutiny by railway authorities.
Official Response and Safety Warnings
Kundan Kumar, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) inspector stationed in Buxar, issued a stern warning following the incident. He emphasized the extreme dangers associated with walking on railway tracks, stating that such actions can lead to catastrophic and often fatal accidents. Inspector Kumar urged the public to strictly avoid using railway lines as pedestrian pathways and to utilize designated crossings and safe routes instead.
Local authorities have launched a thorough investigation to determine the train involved and the precise sequence of events. The bodies of the victims were recovered from the site and handed over to their families after necessary legal procedures.
Broader Implications for Railway Safety
This tragic event highlights ongoing concerns about railway safety in rural and semi-urban areas, where pedestrians sometimes resort to walking along tracks due to lack of proper infrastructure or shortcuts. The Bara-Gahmar section, known for its operational activity, has witnessed similar incidents in the past, prompting calls for enhanced safety measures and public awareness campaigns.
The Chausa power plant management expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their employees and is cooperating with officials. Community leaders in Buxar have called for immediate action to prevent such accidents, including better fencing, signage, and community education programs on railway safety protocols.
