Madhubani: In a coordinated joint operation, the West Bengal Police, in collaboration with the Madhubani police, apprehended Kailash Mishra from Arer village in the Benipatti subdivision late on Saturday evening. Mishra had contested the recent West Bengal assembly elections as a candidate for the Trinamool Congress (TMC) from the Bali constituency but was unsuccessful.
Details of the Arrest
Benipatti Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Amit Kumar confirmed that two to three cases related to fraud and financial irregularities have been registered against Mishra in West Bengal. In one of these cases, a court had issued a non-bailable warrant for his arrest. According to the West Bengal Police, Mishra is accused of being involved in a financial scam amounting to crores of rupees. Law enforcement officials alleged that he had been investing in Madhubani in an attempt to conceal the proceeds of the alleged fraud.
Coordinated Efforts Lead to Capture
DSP Amit Kumar stated, “Not only the West Bengal Police but also the Enforcement Directorate had been searching for Kailash Mishra.” He further added that the West Bengal Police, in coordination with the Madhubani police, formulated a strategic plan and successfully arrested the accused. Mishra is a resident of Arer village in the Benipatti block area of Madhubani district.
The arrest marks a significant step in the investigation of the financial irregularities and sends a strong message that law enforcement agencies are working together to bring offenders to justice, regardless of their political affiliations.
