TMC MLA Javed Khan Files Complaint Over Threatening Call

Kolkata: Javed Khan, the Trinamool Congress MLA from Kasba and a former state minister, has lodged a formal complaint at the Tiljala Police Station, alleging that he received a threatening phone call that caused him significant anxiety and mental harassment.

Details of the Incident

The incident reportedly occurred at 7:59 PM on May 6. According to the MLA, the caller used provocative and indecent language, threatening to implicate him in false cases. The police initially recorded a General Diary (GD) and forwarded it to the court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) in Alipore, 24 Parganas (South). Following a court order, an FIR was registered under sections 352 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police Investigation

No arrests have been made yet in connection with the case. Police are currently verifying call records and other evidence to identify the caller. Legal experts noted that while many non-cognizable offences limit immediate police action, court intervention could expedite the proceedings.
