Tonk Police Arrests Man in Rape Case from Saudi Arabia

Bhilwara: Tonk police arrested a man accused in a rape and blackmail case on Thursday after he returned from Saudi Arabia, where he had allegedly been staying to evade arrest. The accused, identified as Wasimuddin, was taken into custody at Jaipur airport.

Arrest at Jaipur Airport

Airport police detained Wasimuddin upon his arrival around 5 am and alerted Tonk police, who subsequently arrested him. Police had issued a lookout notice in connection with the case.

Details of the Case

Kotwali police station SHO Bhanwar Lal Vaishnav said the case dates back to 2020. The survivor initially lodged a zero FIR in Madhya Pradesh, alleging that the accused raped her and later recorded obscene photographs and videos. According to the complaint, after the woman got married, the accused allegedly used the material to blackmail her and sent the photographs and videos to her husband.

Evasion and Investigation

Police said the accused fled the country after the case was registered and was staying in Saudi Arabia to evade arrest. Investigators had issued notices and questioned family members during efforts to trace him. Following his return to India, he was detained at Jaipur airport and formally arrested by Tonk police. Further investigation is underway.
