Traffic Resumes on Jaipur's Bharu Marg After 4-Day Shutdown

Jaipur: After an almost four-day shutdown, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and the Jaipur Police Commissionerate resumed traffic movement on Bharu Marg, off Nandpuri Colony, late Thursday night.

Demolition and Debris Clearance

Officials stated that it took nearly two days to demolish five religious structures and a portion of a house, followed by another two days to clear the debris. The demolished structures included the Noorani Mosque, two temples, a majar, and a satsang hall.

“Finally, after receiving the green signal from the district collectorate and the JDA, we allowed traffic movement on the stretch Thursday evening,” a senior traffic official said.

Remaining Structures Under Stay

Civic body officials, however, warned that traffic could be halted again if the JDA’s enforcement wing succeeds in vacating stays on the remaining structures marked as illegal. Around nine structures could not be demolished as their owners obtained stays against the JDA notices.

“The next hearing in these cases is scheduled for May 26. We are hopeful of securing orders in our favour and removing these structures,” said Anand Sharma, deputy inspector general of JDA’s enforcement wing.

Road Widening Plans

Officials added that JDA engineers would begin work to widen the road to 80 feet once the enforcement wing clears all the remaining illegal structures.
