Tragic Bike Accident in Trichy Claims Teen's Life, Injures Rider
A devastating road accident in Trichy city has resulted in the death of a 17-year-old boy and left a 19-year-old rider with severe injuries. The incident occurred late on Wednesday night at Cantonment, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety in the area.
Details of the Fatal Crash
Police identified the victims as N Ragavan, 19, and G Sriram, 17, both residents of Uyyakondan Thirumalai. The duo was traveling on a high-end sports bike from the Major Saravanan roundabout towards the Central bus stand. Around 11:30 PM, as the bike approached the 117 Battalion entrance gate at high speed, Ragavan attempted to overtake a vehicle ahead.
Critical Maneuver Leads to Loss of Control
However, a car coming from the opposite direction forced Ragavan to swerve abruptly to avoid a collision. In the process, he lost control of the bike, causing both riders to fall onto the road. They sustained severe injuries to their faces, heads, and legs.
Immediate Response and Aftermath
Onlookers quickly rushed the injured boys to a nearby private hospital. Despite medical efforts, Sriram succumbed to his injuries, while Ragavan remains under observation at the hospital. The sports bike involved in the accident has been seized by authorities as part of the ongoing investigation.
Cantonment police are thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine any contributing factors such as speed or road conditions.
