A 50-year-old farmer was brutally assaulted and murdered, allegedly by one of his own brothers, in a shocking incident stemming from a long-standing property dispute near Lalgudi in Trichy district. Victim Identified as A Stephenraj of Alambakkam
The deceased has been identified as A Stephenraj, a resident of Alambakkam in the Pullambadi block. His lifeless body was discovered in his own farmland on Wednesday morning, bearing severe and fatal head injuries. According to detailed police sources, Stephenraj had been embroiled in persistent and bitter conflicts with his five brothers—Arokiyasamy, Christuraj, Selvanathan, Xavier, and John Kennedy—as well as his two sisters, Daisy Rani and Regina Mary. The core of the dispute revolved around the division and ownership of their family's extensive ancestral properties.
The root of the tension traces back to their father, Amirtham, who had initially divided the family properties among all his children. While separate portions of land were allotted to each sibling, a significant five-acre plot was kept under joint ownership, specifically shared between Stephenraj, Christuraj, and Kennedy.
Kennedy's Dissatisfaction and Escalating Tensions
Kennedy, one of the brothers, was reportedly deeply dissatisfied with this joint ownership arrangement. He frequently engaged in heated arguments with both Stephenraj and Christuraj, vehemently demanding that the five-acre land be transferred to him as separate and sole ownership.
