Trichy Man Electrocuted While Moving Furniture

Trichy: A 21-year-old man died after coming into contact with a live electric wire while relocating furniture to a new house near Marakkadai in Trichy city on Thursday.

Victim Identified

The deceased has been identified as J Sardar Khan, a resident of Gopura Pallivasal Street in Thennur. According to police, Sardar Khan's brother, Amir Khan, recently got married. On Thursday, Sardar Khan, along with his brother Amir Khan and their relative Shahjahan, were shifting household items to Amir Khan's new house in Jeeva Nagar near Marakkadai bridge.

Details of the Incident

During the shifting process, Sardar Khan was using a rope to lift belongings from the ground floor to the first-floor house. While lifting a steel bureau from the balcony, he accidentally touched a live electric cable that was passing very close to the house. The electrocution was instantaneous, and Sardar Khan died on the spot.

Attempts by family members to rescue him were unsuccessful. He was immediately rushed to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) in Trichy, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Police Investigation

Trichy Fort police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation into the incident. Authorities are looking into the circumstances surrounding the positioning of the live wire near the residential building.
