During the operation, police discovered Mutthtamilselvan, a 39-year-old resident of the same locality, in possession of a substantial quantity of banned tobacco products. He was promptly taken into custody and charged under relevant sections of COTPA for unauthorized sale and distribution.
Second Arrest on Karur Bypass Road in Ariyamangalam
In a parallel incident, the Fort police arrested A Zakir Hussain, a 33-year-old from Ukkadai in Ariyamangalam, on similar charges. The arrest followed reports of illegal tobacco sales near the busy Karur Bypass Road, a key transit area in Trichy.
