Trichy Woman Arrested for Killing Puppies in Retaliation After Neighbor Injures Her Son

In a shocking incident from Kambarasampettai near Trichy, a 28-year-old woman was arrested on Friday after she brutally killed two newborn stray puppies. The act was reportedly an act of revenge, stemming from a long-standing feud with her neighbor, who had allegedly injured her three-year-old son earlier in the week.

Background of the Neighborly Dispute

Police identified the women as J Meenakshi Mishra, 28, and G Bhuvaneswari, 30, who are neighbors and have been embroiled in quarrels over domestic issues for approximately one year. The conflict escalated dramatically around 6 am on Wednesday when a heated argument erupted between them.

During this altercation, Bhuvaneswari reportedly hurled a stone at Meenakshi's young son, causing injury. Meenakshi immediately rushed her child to a hospital for medical attention. The incident set the stage for a tragic retaliation that would soon unfold.

The Tragic Puppy Killing Incident

Upon returning home about three hours later, Meenakshi noticed a group of newborn stray puppies wandering outside her residence. In a surge of anger and mistaken belief, she thought that Bhuvaneswari was caring for the puppies. Acting impulsively, she grabbed two of the helpless animals and threw them forcefully against the wall of Bhuvaneswari's house.

The puppies died instantly from the impact. This brutal act was captured on CCTV cameras, and the footage quickly spread across social media platforms, sparking widespread outrage among local residents and animal welfare advocates.

Legal Actions and Arrests

Based on a complaint filed by Ajay Bharath, the vice-president of People for Animals (PFA), the Jeeyapuram police registered a case against Meenakshi. She was booked under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to causing grievous hurt, and Section 11(1)(a) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, addressing acts of cruelty towards animals.

Subsequently, Meenakshi's husband, Jai Ganesh, lodged a formal complaint against Bhuvaneswari for injuring their son. In response, the police registered a case under Section 118 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), related to causing hurt, and arrested Bhuvaneswari on Friday as well.

Both women now face serious legal consequences for their actions, highlighting the severe outcomes of unresolved neighborly conflicts and the importance of animal welfare laws in India.
