Triple Gangland Murder Rocks Nanded: Hospital Stabbing Follows Violent Street Clash
In a shocking incident of gang violence, three members of two rival criminal groups were killed during an early morning confrontation in Nanded city on Saturday. The brutality escalated when one of the injured victims was stabbed to death inside a government hospital while receiving medical treatment, according to police officials.
Deadly Confrontation on D-Mart Road
The violent episode unfolded around 1:30 AM on D-Mart Road near the E-Square area. Members of two rival gangs—one led by Arijit Singh Chavan and the other by Sai Singh Deepak Singh Grehwal, also known as Sai Lala—engaged in a fierce armed confrontation. The clash erupted immediately after Arijit Chavan and his associates exited a late-night movie screening.
Both groups attacked each other with swords and knives, resulting in immediate fatalities. Police confirmed that Arijit Singh Chavan (25) and Mohammad Arbaaz Mohammad Farooq (23) were killed on the spot during the initial violence.
Hospital Attack Adds to Tragedy
The third victim, Syed Avez Syed Khalil (27), sustained serious injuries during the street clash and was transported to Nanded's Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for emergency treatment. In a dramatic turn of events, Avez was later stabbed to death inside the hospital premises by Pradip Chavan, brother of the deceased Arijit Chavan.
Superintendent of Police Abinash Kumar revealed that all accused individuals have criminal backgrounds and were previously known to law enforcement. "All the accused are on the police record. In the recent past, they were externed and even put behind bars under the MPDA Act," Kumar stated, confirming that multiple police teams have been formed to apprehend remaining suspects.
Police Investigation and Arrests
The police have registered two separate First Information Reports (FIRs) in connection with the triple murder case:
- The first FIR was filed by Arijit Chavan's mother, naming five individuals including the two deceased men and unidentified members of Sai Lala's gang. Police have arrested Sonu Raut and Shaker Khan as accused in Arijit's murder.
- The second FIR was registered based on a complaint by Avez's father, Syed Khalil, who named five men including Arijit Chavan and unidentified gang members. Authorities have arrested Sambhaji Patil, Nagesh Ladde, Gajanan Chavan, and Pradip Chavan as accused in this case.
Bhagyanagar inspector Santosh Tambe provided crucial insights from the preliminary investigation: "Preliminary probe has revealed that Arijit, Nagesh and Sambhaji had gone for a movie. After they stepped out, the rival gang members started chasing them on bikes and soon waylaid and attacked them. Arijit and his accomplices also counter-attacked."
Pre-Planned Violence and Ongoing Rivalry
Investigators suspect the attack was pre-meditated, with both groups arriving at the location armed with sharp weapons. The violence appears to stem from an ongoing rivalry and struggle for dominance between the two criminal organizations operating in the area.
The hospital attack occurred while Arijit's brothers and father were present at GMCH to shift his body to the mortuary. Upon learning that Avez had been admitted for treatment, Pradip Chavan allegedly produced a sharp-edged weapon and stabbed him multiple times within the hospital premises, resulting in his death.
Police Response and Forensic Examination
Senior police officers immediately visited the crime scene following the incident. The area was cordoned off for investigation, and forensic teams collected evidence from multiple locations. Authorities are currently examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Heavy police deployment has been implemented in the affected area to maintain order and prevent further violence. Police have issued a public appeal urging citizens not to believe or spread rumors about the incident as the investigation continues.
