Agartala: Tripura Police has issued a directive prohibiting its personnel from creating or sharing social media content while in uniform. The order, issued by Namit Pathak, Superintendent of Police (West district), highlights concerns about how such activities might affect the dignity and reputation of the police force.

The directive follows observations that some personnel have been posting reels, videos, photographs, and other content on social media platforms while in uniform. The department voiced apprehension that frivolous, inappropriate, or objectionable posts could harm the image, discipline, and public trust in Tripura Police.

The memorandum emphasises that the police uniform symbolises authority, discipline, integrity, and public confidence. Personnel have been reminded of their duty to uphold the professionalism and values embodied by the uniform at all times.

This restriction covers all police personnel, including members of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and other units. They are directed not to produce, engage in, or upload any social media content in uniform that may compromise the department's dignity, decorum, or reputation.

The use of police uniforms for personal promotion, entertainment, commercial endorsements, or any activities that could tarnish the force’s image has been explicitly prohibited, the memorandum said. Supervisory officers have been assigned the responsibility of ensuring compliance with this directive and educating subordinates about the importance and proper representation of the police uniform, it mentioned.

Any cases of misconduct on social media involving personnel in uniform must be reported through official channels for appropriate action. The order also makes it clear that violations will be taken seriously and could lead to strict departmental proceedings under applicable disciplinary rules.
