Kanpur: A driver died after a truck carrying plywood lost control and fell off a bridge on National Highway-19, in Kanpur Dehat, on Sunday morning. On being alerted, police arrived at the location and sent the body for post-mortem.
The incident occurred at about 9:30am on Sunday on Sengur river bridge near a Hanuman temple in village Bihari, under the Derapur police station area. The truck, bearing a Rajasthan registration, was transporting plywood from Haryana towards Kolkata. As it reached the bridge, the driver reportedly lost control and the vehicle fell from the bridge.
The driver, Pramod Kumar (28), son of Ramlochan, a resident of Khanpur in Samastipur district of Bihar, died on the spot. Some passersby and locals informed the police after which Derapur police reached the scene.
Police are attempting to contact the driver’s family. The police are investigating the case.
