A tragic accident on the Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal (KGP) Expressway late Saturday night claimed the life of a truck driver after his vehicle slammed into a stationary truck that lacked any warning signs. The incident occurred near Chhainsa village in the Faridabad district.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The victim has been identified as Ramprasad (34), a resident of Bharatpur in Rajasthan. He was transporting a consignment of crusher material to Noida when the accident happened. According to police officials from the Chhainsa station, the parked truck had been left on the high-speed corridor without any reflector boards, warning markers, or indicator stones. This made it virtually invisible to other motorists in the dark.
Ramprasad's truck, moving at high speed, crashed into the stationary vehicle. The impact was so severe that he died on the spot. The parked truck's driver was absent, and the vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the collision.
Family's Anguish and Police Action
The family of the deceased, living in Deeg, Bharatpur, was informed about the accident and Ramprasad's death by an ambulance driver named Tinku. His son, Umed, stated that his father had been working as a truck driver for several years.
Following a formal complaint lodged by Umed, the Chhainsa police have registered a case of negligence against the unidentified driver of the stationary truck. Police spokesperson Yashpal confirmed that a team moved the body to Badshah Khan Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Investigation into Road Safety Lapse
The police are now actively working to trace the owner of the stationary truck and to determine the precise reason why the vehicle was abandoned on a major expressway without any safety precautions. This incident has raised serious questions about the enforcement of road safety norms on high-speed corridors, where such negligence can have fatal consequences.
Authorities are emphasizing the critical need for drivers to ensure their parked vehicles, especially on highways, are properly marked with reflectors and warning signs to prevent similar tragedies.
