Official Attempts to Halt Illegal Sand Transport
SDO Umesh Chavan was traveling towards Bhiwapur when he observed a truck that was allegedly involved in the illegal transportation of sand. Demonstrating his commitment to enforcing the law, Chavan attempted to stop the vehicle to investigate further. However, the driver exhibited a blatant disregard for authority by refusing to slow down. Instead, in a reckless maneuver, the driver deliberately struck Chavan's government vehicle before accelerating away to evade capture.
Fortunately, Chavan emerged from the collision unscathed and without any injuries. He promptly contacted the Umred police station to report the incident, providing crucial details that enabled a swift response from law enforcement agencies.
Police Launch Pursuit and Make Arrest
Acting on the information provided by SDO Chavan, the Umred police initiated an immediate chase to intercept the fleeing truck. Their efforts proved successful as they managed to track down and stop the vehicle. The driver was subsequently detained and taken into custody.
The arrested individual has been identified as Rajat Rohankar, a 29-year-old resident of Kharbi, Nagpur. Following the arrest, authorities also seized the truck involved in the incident as part of their ongoing investigation.
