Turkish National Killed in Hit-and-Run Incident on Zirakpur's VIP Road
A tragic hit-and-run accident claimed the life of a Turkish woman on Zirakpur's busy VIP Road late Monday night. The victim, identified as Mawluda, a Turkish national, was struck by an allegedly speeding Audi car and died on the spot due to severe injuries and excessive bleeding.
Details of the Fatal Collision
According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, Mawluda was walking with her friend Abhishek, also known as Abhi, after visiting a patient at a private hospital on VIP Road around midnight. As they attempted to cross the road, a black Audi car, reportedly traveling at high speed, rammed into them.
The impact of the collision was devastating. Mawluda was thrown approximately 12 to 14 feet into the air before landing on the opposite side of the road. She sustained critical injuries and succumbed to her wounds immediately. Abhishek, who accompanied Mawluda to check on his pregnant wife at the hospital, escaped with minor injuries.
Police Investigation and Response
Following the accident, bystanders promptly alerted the police control room. However, local residents have alleged that law enforcement officials arrived at the scene nearly an hour after the alert was raised. The driver of the Audi fled the location immediately after the collision.
Police have shifted Mawluda's body to the civil hospital mortuary. Investigating officer ASI Raj Kumar stated that Mawluda's sister is traveling from Turkey to India. The postmortem examination and further legal proceedings will be conducted upon her arrival.
Authorities are currently examining CCTV camera footage from the vicinity to identify the vehicle and trace the accused driver. The investigation is ongoing as police teams work to apprehend the individual responsible for this fatal incident.
Additional Road Accidents in the Region
This tragic event is not an isolated occurrence in the Zirakpur area. In a separate incident, a 25-year-old BTech graduate, Harsahib Singh, was killed after being hit by a tractor in the IT City police station area. According to a complaint filed by his mother, Bhupinder Kaur, the accident occurred near a petrol pump when Harsahib stepped out of a car to use a restroom across the road.
Police have booked tractor driver Gurdaman Singh for rash and negligent driving under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Two other individuals, Harman Singh and Tarun Sharma, were also riding on the tractor at the time of the incident.
In another case, a scooter rider, Joel Masih, was seriously injured in a hit-and-run near Airport Chowk. The accused driver initially remained at the spot but later fled with the vehicle. Joel Masih is currently undergoing treatment at Max Hospital after being referred from the civil hospital in Mohali.

The Zirakpur area has witnessed several fatal accidents in recent months:
