A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Tuticorin on Thursday morning when a 14-year-old schoolboy lost his life after his e-bike skidded on a pothole. The young victim, identified as Ahmed Abid, a Class 9 student residing in Anna Nagar, died on the spot due to severe injuries sustained in the crash.

Details of the Fatal Morning Incident

The tragedy occurred at approximately 8:15 AM as Ahmed and his classmate, Ashraf, were returning home from a tuition centre located in Millerpuram. According to police sources, the duo was travelling along Vakeel Odai Road after completing their morning classes. While navigating a stretch near the Millerpuram mosque, their e-bike encountered a deep pothole, causing the vehicle to lose balance abruptly.

Both students were thrown onto the asphalt surface. Ahmed suffered fatal injuries to his head and face, leading to his immediate death at the scene. His friend, Ashraf, fortunately escaped with minor injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Police Response and Investigation

Tuticorin south police promptly arrived at the accident site following the incident. The body of the deceased teenager was sent to the Tuticorin Government Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
