In a tragic incident in Tuticorin district, a 17-year-old Class 12 student who had been reported missing on Tuesday evening was discovered murdered near her house in a village on Wednesday. The case, initially filed as a 'girl missing' complaint, has now been officially reclassified as murder, prompting a thorough police investigation.
Discovery of the Body and Initial Findings
According to police reports, the girl left her home around 6 PM on Tuesday and failed to return. Her parents subsequently filed a missing person complaint with the Kulathur police later that night, which initiated an immediate search operation. On Wednesday afternoon, villagers alerted authorities after spotting a body in a bush approximately 300 meters from the teenager's residence. Police swiftly arrived at the scene and confirmed the identity of the missing student.
The body was transported to Tuticorin Government Hospital for a postmortem examination. A senior police official stated, "Preliminary inquiry indicates she had a strangulation injury on her neck.
