In the ongoing investigation into the alleged dowry death of former model Twisha Sharma, her husband Samarth and mother-in-law Giribala have been sent to 14-day judicial custody. The order was issued on Tuesday by a local court in Madhya Pradesh.
CBI Reconstruction of Incident
A day earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reconstructed the circumstances of Twisha Sharma's alleged suicide at her marital home using dummies. The reconstruction aimed to recreate the sequence of events leading to her death, which occurred earlier this year.
Case Background
Twisha Sharma, a former model, was found dead at her residence under suspicious circumstances. Her family alleged that she was subjected to harassment and torture over dowry demands by her husband and in-laws. Following a complaint, the case was transferred to the CBI for a thorough investigation.
The court, after hearing arguments from both sides, remanded Samarth and Giribala to judicial custody for 14 days. They will remain in jail pending further proceedings.
The CBI's reconstruction using dummies is part of its efforts to gather forensic evidence and establish the exact sequence of events. The agency has also questioned several witnesses and collected digital evidence, including call records and messages.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for later this month. The accused have been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including those related to dowry death and abetment to suicide.
