In a significant breakthrough in the Dasu Vanvasi murder case, two accused were arrested following an exchange of fire with the Saidpur police in Ghazipur district late Saturday night. The accused sustained bullet injuries in their legs during the encounter.

Ghazipur’s Saidpur police station in-charge Rajesh Kumar Tripathi confirmed on Sunday that the police team received a tip-off that Ras Bihari and Harendra, the two accused in the Vanvasi murder case, were present near the under-construction fire service station in Sehmalpur village. A cash reward of Rs 25,000 had been announced for their arrest.

The police team swiftly reached the location and cordoned off the area. Upon being surrounded, the accused opened fire on the police in an attempt to escape. The police retaliated in self-defence, resulting in both accused sustaining bullet injuries in their legs, causing them to fall.

Recovery of Weapons

From the possession of the accused, the police recovered two country-made pistols and cartridges. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
