Two Accused in Kochi Sex Trafficking Case Get Police Custody

Kochi: Two accused in the Kochi-based international sex trafficking case were granted police custody on Tuesday for interrogation. The accused, Aleena Abraham, 23, and Manjima P, 25, have been named as the third and fourth accused in the case. According to sources, they were remanded to police custody until 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case is optimistic that the women will cooperate and disclose further details about the operation of the racket. Investigators also plan to question them extensively about Sindhu, the prime accused in the case.

Bilal alias Sreekumar, a key accused involved in identifying and sending women abroad, was arrested on May 21. Two other accused, Shamla and Rehmath, have been named as the second and fifth accused, respectively. Senior police officers confirmed that efforts are ongoing to bring two women suspects, believed to be in Dubai, to Kerala for questioning.
