Two individuals were taken into custody on Saturday following an incident where a group of miscreants set fire to a cyber cafe owned by a local BJP worker in the Nuntia Crossing area under the Bagnan police station. The arson led to widespread outrage among locals, including Howrah BJP secretary and advocate Omprakash Singh, who staged a protest demanding the immediate arrest of the perpetrators. In a related act of retaliation, a Trinamool Congress party office was also vandalized.
Investigation Launched
Police have initiated an investigation based on a complaint filed by the shop owner, Baidyanath Pramanik. According to law enforcement officials, the miscreants wore helmets to conceal their identities during the commission of the crime. Pramanik's family informed reporters that they suspect the involvement of antisocial elements backed by the Trinamool Congress. They further claimed that three days prior to the incident, unidentified men on motorcycles had threatened Pramanik, warning him against continuing to operate the cyber cafe.
Health and Evidence
Following the traumatic event, Pramanik fell ill and was admitted to a nursing home for medical care, as confirmed by his family members. Meanwhile, CCTV footage capturing the entire incident has been handed over to the police to aid in the investigation.
