Thiruvananthapuram: The Nemom police have arrested two individuals on charges of attempting to murder a young man after luring him to a secluded location near Vellayani Church and subjecting him to a brutal assault.
Arrests Made in Brutal Assault Case
The arrested suspects have been identified as Pradeep, also known as Colony Suresh, a resident of Nemom, and Anoop, also known as Swarnam Anoop, a resident of Venganur, Nemom. According to police reports, the incident took place around 10:30 PM on Sunday.
Details of the Incident
The accused allegedly contacted the victim, a native of Pappanamcode, via telephone and requested a meeting near Vellayani Church. Upon arrival, the youth was reportedly restrained, tied up, and severely beaten by the duo. The victim sustained serious internal injuries as a result of the attack and has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Police officials stated that a case has been registered against the accused under provisions related to attempted murder, given the severity of the assault and the injuries inflicted upon the victim. Authorities further revealed that the attack stemmed from a prior enmity between the accused and the victim.
Criminal Background of the Accused
Investigations uncovered that Pradeep is implicated in four assault cases registered at the Nemom and Valiyathura police stations. He is also an accused in an attempted murder case from 2011. Anoop, on the other hand, faces charges in seven assault cases registered at the Nemom and Karamana police stations.
Legal Proceedings
Following their arrest, the accused were produced before a court and subsequently remanded in judicial custody. The police continue to investigate the matter further.
