Prayagraj: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two out of five accused, identified as Rashid and his brother Salman, residents of Bongi village, on charges of killing their elderly maternal uncle over a petty dispute on Monday.
Incident Details
A 65-year-old man, Nisar Ahmad, was allegedly beaten to death by Guddu and his four brothers after a goat entered Nisar's house. Police said Guddu's goat, whose marriage was to be solemnised on Monday evening, had entered his maternal uncle's house on Monday morning. Irked by the goat's entry, Nisar's family members beat the animal and chased it out of their house.
The situation escalated when both families confronted each other over the beating of the goat. The five brothers allegedly thrashed Nisar with sticks, and he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police Action
Upon being alerted, police rushed to the spot and launched a manhunt for all five accused. While Rashid and Salman were arrested, three others, including Guddu, remain absconding. The marriage of Guddu has been postponed.
