Two arrested for stone attack on house in Vizhinjam

Thiruvananthapuram: Vizhinjam police have arrested two alleged history-sheeters for attacking a house and pelting stones at it in Karayadivila on Friday night. The incident left a homemaker with a narrow escape from serious injuries.

Arrested Individuals Identified

The arrested individuals were identified as Sourav, 21, alias Appus, of Piravilakam, Vizhinjam, and Ajay, 30, alias Nandu, of Venganur. Police stated that both accused are included in the rowdy list maintained by the station.

Details of the Attack

According to police, a three-member gang allegedly arrived at the house in an intoxicated state and hurled stones at the building. The attack damaged portions of the house, including four pillars. The woman, who was inside at the time, escaped unhurt after moving away moments before the stones struck the structure.

Police Response and Investigation

Vizhinjam SHO V D Rejiraj said two members of the gang were taken into custody soon after the incident. A wire rod believed to have been used during the attack was recovered from the scene.

Police said efforts are under way to trace and arrest the third accused, who remains absconding. The motive behind the attack is being investigated. A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress, police added.
