Two Arrested in Connection with Heinous Crime

A deeply disturbing case of gang rape involving a minor student has been reported from the Belagavi district of Karnataka. The incident, which occurred within the jurisdiction of the Murgod police station, has led to the arrest of two individuals. The victim is a girl studying in the 7th standard.

Details of the Assault

According to police sources, the traumatic event took place on November 21. The young girl was attacked when she was returning home from a flour mill, a mere 300 metres away from her residence. The accused allegedly dragged her into a nearby sugarcane field and committed the crime.

The victim registered a formal complaint with the police on Monday evening, following which law enforcement acted swiftly. Superintendent of Police Bhimashankar Guled provided details of the police response to the media.

Swift Police Action and Court Proceedings

"Immediately after the case was registered, Murgod police took the accused into custody for enquiry," stated SP Guled. The investigation led to the identification and arrest of the two suspects on Tuesday. They were subsequently produced before a court.

The arrested individuals have been named as Manikanth Dinnimani and Iranna Sankammanavar. SP Guled clarified the roles, indicating that of the two, one is the principal accused, while the other provided support during the commission of the offense.
