Kandivali Police Apprehend Two Suspects in Fatal Property Dispute Case

In a significant development, the Kandivali police have successfully arrested two individuals, Chandtabhushan Chauhan and Vijaykumar Chauhan, both aged between 40 and 45 years, in connection with the alleged murder of 60-year-old Ramlakhan Yadav. The tragic incident, which occurred in September 2025, stemmed from a long-standing property dispute in the Laljipada area of Kandivli West, Mumbai.

Details of the Violent Confrontation

According to police reports, the Yadav and Chauhan families had been embroiled in a bitter dispute over a property for several days prior to the fatal altercation. On September 5, 2025, the situation escalated dramatically when the accused forcefully entered Yadav's residence. They allegedly claimed ownership of the property and began subjecting Yadav and his family members to verbal abuse and physical assault.

The attack involved the use of sticks, bamboo stumps, and stones, resulting in Yadav sustaining serious and life-threatening injuries. His family members acted swiftly, rushing him to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivli West for immediate medical attention. Doctors at the hospital provided treatment and subsequently discharged him, believing his condition to be stable.

Victim's Deterioration and Subsequent Death

Tragically, the following day, Yadav complained of severe chest pain, prompting his family to return him to the hospital at approximately 5:30 PM. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for further treatment. Despite the medical team's efforts, doctors declared Ramlakhan Yadav dead at around 7:45 PM while he was still undergoing care in the ICU.

Police Investigation and Arrests

Initially, five accused individuals were arrested in connection with the case but were later released on bail. However, Chandtabhushan Chauhan and Vijaykumar Chauhan had managed to abscond during this period, evading capture. In response, the Kandivali police formed a special team dedicated to tracing and apprehending the two fugitives.

Through persistent investigative efforts, the special team successfully located and arrested both suspects, bringing them into custody to face charges related to the alleged murder. The police have emphasized that the arrests mark a crucial step in ensuring justice for the victim and his grieving family.

This case highlights the severe consequences that can arise from unresolved property disputes and underscores the importance of legal avenues for conflict resolution. The Kandivali police continue their investigation to gather further evidence and build a strong case for prosecution.
