In a swift operation, the Mohali police have apprehended two individuals in connection with a brazen gunpoint car robbery that occurred in the IT City area last week. The authorities have successfully recovered the stolen Hyundai i20 car and the motorcycle used by the accused during the commission of the crime.
Details of the Armed Robbery
The incident was reported on December 13, based on a complaint filed by Deepak, a business manager working with Livspace Home Interiors in Chandigarh's Industrial Area Phase 1 and residing in Sector 82A. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Harmandeep Singh Hans, the victim was targeted on the evening of December 12 around 8:30 PM.
Deepak was parked outside his paying guest accommodation in his red Hyundai i20, attending a phone call, when a youth approached him on a Splendor motorcycle. The accused initiated a conversation under the guise of asking for directions. The situation escalated rapidly when the individual suddenly tried to open the car door. Upon resistance from Deepak, the accused pulled out a pistol, loaded it in front of the victim, and threatened to shoot.
Arrests and Recovery of Stolen Items
Fearing for his life, the victim complied and stepped out of his vehicle. The accused then fled the scene with the car, abandoning the motorcycle at the spot. The stolen car contained valuable items including a company laptop, an iPhone 14 Plus, AirPods, charger, ATM and credit cards, the spare car key, and important documents like insurance and pollution certificates, the registration certificate, and a copy of the driving licence.
Following a thorough investigation, the police team identified and arrested the two accused. They have been identified as Vikram Masih and William Masih, originally residents of Mahal village under Kalanaur police station in Gurdaspur district, and currently living in Nanu Majra village under Sohana police station limits in Mohali.
